The Vancouver Canucks released the following press release Sunday afternoon. We mentioned early Sunday morning that this was happening. The amount is in the immediate ball park projected earlier in the week. It includes a $500K signing bonus and an ascending base salary over the three years of the term. The club and player avoid the arbitration hearing that was scheduled for August 20th.
Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has signed forward Jason Dickinson to a three-year contract worth an average annual value of $2.65 million.ย
“Jason was an important addition for our forward group this summer and we’re pleased to have agreed to terms with him on a three-year deal,” said Benning. “He’s a versatile player that can play on both the wing and at centre, and is also a strong penalty killer.”ย
Dickinson, 26, recorded 15 points (7-8-15) and 18 penalty minutes in 51 games with Dallas last season. He ranked first among all Stars forwards in blocked shots (49) and fourth in hits (78) while averaging a career-high 16:12 in time on ice.ย
Dickinson has appeared in 221 career NHL games, all with Dallas, collecting 63 points (25-38-63) and 64 penalty minutes. Dickinson has appeared in an additional 40 postseason games, including a trip to the 2020 Stanley Cup Final, totaling nine points (5-4-9) and 12 penalty minutes.ย
A native of Georgetown, Ontario, Dickinson represented Team Canada at the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championships in Sochi, Russia, helping the team to its third gold medal title.ย
The 6’2″, 200-pound forward was originally selected by Dallas in the first round, 29th overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.ย
