Vancouver Canucks Skate: Giroux Trade, Kane Mad, Sid’s 500?

Our National Hockey Now group has been killing it lately, from a trade story involving the Colorado Avalanche, the Tyler Toffoli deal from multiple perspectives, ticking off Evander Kane apparently, and staying ahead of the game with the Vancouver Canucks. A special coverage deal for you is coming just down the road. In the meantime, probably time for us to go for a twirl …

Let’s Skate ! …

Giroux News

Our man in Denver Adrian Dater of Colorado Hockey Now has been breaking the Claude Giroux news, the longtime Philadelphia Flyers captain suggesting that if he can’t get traded to the Colorado Avalanche, he would lift his no-move clause to go to St. Louis or Minnesota.

Sam Carchidi, who’s covered the Flyers for decades and is now the anchor for Philly Hockey Now coverage, says Philly scouts are actively checking out all of the player options throughout the Avalanche organization. One of the people evaluating the personnel is former 17-year NHL forward Danny Briere, who was named a special assistant to Flyers GM Check Fletcher last week.

By the way, what are the odds Pittsburgh Penguin’s captain Sidney Crosby scores his 500th NHL goal against the organization’s dreaded cross-Pennsylvania rival on Tuesday night? I say pretty good. It seems fitting. The game is in Pittsburgh and I’m sure “the Kid” would love nothing more than to notch the milestone goal against the Flyers.

Kane is Able, and Annoyed

Evander Kane, now an Edmonton Oiler, had seen enough of San Jose Hockey Now’s Sheng Peng to last a lifetime apparently. Kane expressed his fatigue with the coverage as he was leaving the Shark-dom, and ‘Penger’ had the answer for the Vancouver native.

Motown Masters

Bob Duff and Kevin Allen, oh I don’t know, maybe six or seven decades of NHL coverage between them, bring it in a big way with Detroit Hockey Now. Kevin’s puck potpourri from Monday pretty much gives you all of the options. Surprisingly, it also brings you a bit of gossip which includes the Ron Duguay and Sarah Palin dating story.

There’s some incredible Ronny Duguay off-ice stories from the 70’s/80’s which I’ll share with you if we ever run into one another over a beer. Dude was the king. In the meantime, what do these two talk about; hair and politics?

Canucks Prep

The Vancouver Canucks skate Tuesday morning at Rogers Arena at 10:30 am. The BC Boys will skate again Wednesday before taking flight for San Jose to take on the Sharks on Thursday. Canucks post-practice coverage to follow later today. You can also look for a Rob Fai ‘Sports Bar Radio’ podcast talking Canucks later today.

Another by the way, as seen above, the Vancouver Canucks coaches donned the “Flying Skate” logo at their last practice. More on that shortly as well.

Enjoy the Hockey Action !!
