Canucks Daily: VAN’s Strong Right Wings, Another Hockey Scandal Bubbling

Published

on

Vancouver Canucks, Conor Garland
Although he finished last season on the left side, Conor Garland and his fellow Vancouver Canucks right wings are highly touted.

There is plenty of NHL news and opinion to get to, including TSN telling us the Vancouver Canucks gang of right wingers sits in the “outperforms” category, the second strongest group in the five tiers of their talent listings.

Meanwhile, following the Vancouver Canucks introduction of a new goalie coach in Abbotsford and their new medical and conditioning staffs, that activity has sparked readers to believe a trade is coming ahead of our made-up over/under, before/after date of August 22nd. We’ll see.

Right now, a big skate around the big show …

Wingers

Here’s that TSN story on the NHL’s top right wing rankings. The Vancouver Canucks list appears speculative to be quite honest, as in generous. Also, there will be a lefty/righty mix-and-match with players on their off wing. Andrey Kuzmenko and Ilya Mikheyev don’t factor into this list. TSN had both Russians on the left side on an earlier ranking behind Elias Pettersson and Tanner Pearson. We’ll have our own Vancouver Canucks line charts shortly.

Swedish winger Anton Blidh signed with the Colorado Avalanche. Here’s a viewpoint of that development from both his new team at Colorado Hockey Now and from his old team at Boston Hockey Now.

— Mike Knuble was an NHL winger. Now he’s a coach in the area he grew up playing hockey. Detroit Hockey Now says he’s loving life.

Another Sex Scandal?

— Brian Wiseman was hired as an assistant coach by the New York Islanders back on July 5th. It didn’t last; he’s out. Why? NYI Hockey Now explains it may date back to a previous sexual assault case.

By the way, utterly unrelated, what would that Islanders line-up look like if centre Nazem Kadri signs there?

Pacific Division

A day after we hear Max Pacioretty tell us about a lack of accountability with the Golden Knights, Vegas Hockey Now explains that club’s perceived strength up the middle.

Can the Calgary Flames actually lock up newly acquired winger Jonathan Huberdeau?

That’s a pretty good twirl for your morning coffee. Have a great Thursday!
